You said that the Bible is very clear that Christians will not be truly free of sinning. Where does it say that? Please help.

response after response and not one person mentions John 3:5. Stating a man must be born of the Water and Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God. Water is baptism.Spirit is the Holy Spirit(Holy Ghost). In the book of Acts it states the evidence of the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. Peter said in Acts 2:38, Repent and be baptized everyone of you, in the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. That said...why is everyone so afraid of the Ghost.

I just want to express my beliefs on salvation. When I was nine years old, I spent the night with a friend at her house. Her mother was sitting up reading the Bible. My friend and I started talking to her about the Bible and God's love for us. Later that night, I was on my knees with my friends mother at my side, praying to God and accepting Jesus into my heart. I believe I was saved that night. Throughout my life however, I have sinned and unfortunately continue to sin. I have had times of despair when I have been on my knees begging for God to take away these feelings of pain and sadness. I have had times of joy where I am rejoicing to God and thanking him for my many blessings. Then throughout the years (for I am now 47) there have been times, when I have not turned to God. It wasn't that I didn't believe in God or the fact that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sins, I have always believed that. These were just times, when I kind of "forgot about God." Now if I had died during these times in my life that I wasn't praying, wasn't walking in his word, would I have still gone to heaven? I like to think so, but I do not know for sure. I can say, that when I am talking to God daily, and trying to walk in his word, I feel "safer" that if I die, I will go to heaven. Even though I was saved all of those years ago, I believe you have to daily make a choice to choose God. I believe, that even though you can be "saved" you have to daily pick up the cross and choose to have a close relationship with him. That is the struggle I now try to work on daily to have a close, active, on fire kind of daily relationship with Jesus. It takes work just like anything worthwhile takes work. So no, the Bible may not say that I have to say a prayer to ask Jesus into my heart, but by doing so, and by trying to make him an active daily part of my life, I believe I am truly saved.

Michael-please direct all the people who simply want to quote bible verses to each other to this site. They can quote away to their hearts content. They have no place on an economic collapse type blog.

I have a question about this verse:

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” Hebrews 10:26-27

So this says if we do a sin after we learn that what we are doing is a sin then we won't be forgiven? But being the unholy sinners we all are everyone would sin after learning of certain sins. So are we forgiven much thanks.

And we cannot forget this one thing: People in general want to look at only the ten commandments, but there are more than ten. And if we broke one, we are guilty of breaking them all. Moses was a clear example of that when he came off the mountain and threw the tables of stone down, he broke them all symbolically speaking at one time, thus showing none of us could keep the law, but there is one law we can keep. Christ fulfilled the law of righteousness. Our faith in Him and what he did for us at the cross is what brings us to salvation. First, we must hear the word preached. Then it must convict our heart, we realize we're a sinner. then we come to an altar of repentance, and this can be on a railroad track, a cornfield, at church, or anywhere we bow our heart to God and repent. We can only do this when we are under conviction and the spirit says to come. Then when we do, Christ comes into our soul, washes away our sins and makes it as though we never sinned. So then when we do in the future after we've been saved, God sees the blood Christ applied to our soul, and he sees it being pure. We will continue to sin in the flesh till the day we die, but praise God, Satan doesnt' know where our soul is and it will never sin, because the seed in us, spoken of by John is hid away in Christ and cannot sin because it is born of God. When put this way, it's so simple a child can understand. The problem is this: Man injects their ideas into the equation and makes a mess of it. Then with all the people telling their theories etc complicates it more. Remember this: Any one wanting to be right with God, he will make a way. He put the jam on the bottom shelf for the kids.

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" 1 John 5:13

" He that has the Son has life, he who has not the Son, has NOT life" 1 John 5:12

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36

I could go on and on. This is a gaurantee of salvation. Jesus either saved us or he did not. If you say he made a way for us to be saved, but we can do more "good" works to get to Heaven, then you are mistaken.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast" Ephesians 2:8-9

Yes we need to repent from our sins, but scripture is very clear that we are being made into the image of Christ ( santification) here on earth, and we will not truly be free of sinning. The important part is how God views us. If you have repented, turned to Christ and asked him to change your heart and be your Lord AND Savior, then you will be born again and have eternal life. God looks at us through Christ, and we obtain the righteousness of Christ based on what he dod for us. Christians works will determine our rewards, but if we are truly born again, we WILL have eternal life in Heaven and be saved from Hell.

I hope this helps.

Heres a question.... Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Have you ever looked upon another person with lust in your heart? If so, then you have broken God's law. Your homosexuality is also an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. You say you have recieved Christ. Have you ever repented? This is the first step in recieving Christ, it is more than just saying a prayer. When true repentance happens, then you will be born again, and your homosexuality will be "removed".

Repent (turn from your sins), and turn to the Savior and get the "mind of Christ" and you will be set free from homosexuality. Not to sound harsh, but if you continue to practice the homosexual lifestyle, then you have not truly repented. The scriptures say that no homosexual will enter the kingdom of God.

Peace to you

Edward:

All of our sins are forgiven by God - past, present and future.

But when we sin after we have become a Christian we are hurting ourselves and we are disrupting our fellowship with God.

For example, if you cuss out your father he is still your father, right? But your fellowship with him may be hurt.

So just like you would need to confess you were wrong to your earthly father, you will also need to confess your sins to your heavenly Father in order to restore your fellowship with Him.

you said that if we ask for forgiveness of our sins and we are sincere about it they will be forgiven if i read it correctly. well since we are human and are going to continue to sin until we die, if you keep committing the same sins but are trying genuinely to not commit them again are we still forgiven? an example being a sin i have more awareness of repeating is i have reoccuring lustful thoughts. when i realize i am having them i try and repress them. since i keep committing this sin or any other sin that i may be repeating, since i try to keep from committing them over and over but perform them anyway are they still forgiven?

you mention having to be born again and you are correct. you also say you were a backslider that found the way back to Jesus, AND I CONGRATULATE YOU, SISTER.

But where you are wrong, friend, is in your "once saved, always saved" statements, saying that one can "lose their salvation". The "one has to stay saved" heresy is right out of the lordship salvationist, charismatic, assembly of god, church of christ heresy handbook. You dont have to "stay saved", any more than you have to "stay a son or a daughter" to parents. Tell me something: is it possible for you to lose your sonship or daughtership, or have to "stay your parent's son or daughter"? NO! ONCE BORN ALWAYS BORN! Likewise with the spiritual birth! Yes, we sin, because of the sin nature (which will ALWAYS be there ON OUR BUTT DOGGING US as long as we live in this corrupt world and have a devil running around!), and we are going to go up, down, left, right, forward, backward, EVERYWHERE. But if we are truly HIS and born again, he CHASTENS US when we do go the wrong way THE WAY A LOVING FATHER WOULD (Hebrews 12:5-6) because he loves us and ALLOWS U-TURNS. It is the HOLY SPIRIT that does the chastising, as well as the guiding, comforting, leading us, but WE ARE HIS WHEN WE ACCEPT THE GIFT AND HE WILL NOT LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US (Hebrews 13:5, KJV). God doesn't expect us to know how to walk immediately after we are saved, just as you don't expect a baby to know how to walk when it is born. To say that you have to "stay saved" IS LIKE TELLING JESUS THAT HIS FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS WASN'T ENOUGH to pay for your sins and you would have to keep adding more works to it to make it valid. THAT WOULD BE AN INSULT to him! It was more than enough, friend, to pay for your sins, sins of the past, present, and future. We GROW IN GRACE and we ADD NO WORKS. It is true that man looks on the outward appearance, and that is one good reason to GLORIFY JESUS OUR LORD, but NOT in order TO STAY SAVED.

you mention having to be born again and you are correct. you also say you were a backslider that found the way back to Jesus, AND I CONGRATULATE YOU, SISTER.

But where you are wrong, friend, is in your “once saved, always saved” statements, saying that one can “lose their salvation”.
Jamie:

Jesus paid the penalty for all of our sins on the cross. No additional payment needs to be made.

If we asked Jesus to come into our lives, all of our sins have been wiped clean.

Yes, it is hard to understand that salvation is a free gift, but it cost Jesus everything.

However, God will judge our works once we get to heaven. There will be no punishment, but those that have done many good works will receive a great reward and those believers that have done very few good works will receive a very small reward.

Does that make sense?

I was told that even once we accept god into our lives and ask for forgiveness of our sins when we die we will still have to answer for these sins. Now I know when we die God will judge us for our sins on earth but my understanding of the scripture was that if we have accepted God and asked for forgiveness then Jesus will answer for us and stand will us in our judgement. This other person (who was raised in the church...I was not I have committed my life to god but still am learning daily) that once judged god will make you pay for your sins before allowing you to enter heaven. Also they said something about this will be how God decided what job you will have in heaven. Please help me understand this...is it true?

Ray:

The Bible says that you can know if you have eternal life or not. The following comes from 1 John 5:11-13....

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

If you have asked Jesus into your life, He is there. You are born again and you have been given eternal life.

Many young Christians have doubts like this. But you can trust what the Word of God says. God never goes back on His Word.

Hi. I am 17. I am struggling with a few things. My church family has been going through major problems. & my family has too. While all this has gone on, & before, I have drifted away from God. I went to a friends church tonight & the passage made me cry. He was talking about salvation & if we were going to heaven or hell. I believe in the Lord with all my heart but sometimes I drift away & it's to hard to find my way back. My question is, once you've been saved once & except God in your heart & drift away from him, can you ask him to come again? Or is it wrong? People are telling me you can only except God into your heart once & not again. But I keep drifting away & I want to change that by asking him to come back. Please help me.
Thank you.
