I have a comment, well actually just a Scripture on the "Once saved always saved topic."

Seems the Bible is very clear in this Scripture:

1 Peter 4:18 (NIV)
18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?
--------------------------------
1 Peter 4:18 (NKJV)
18 Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”[a]
---------------------------------
1 Peter 4:18 (GNT)Good News Translation
18 As the scripture says, It is difficult for good people to be saved; what, then, will become of godless sinners?

Thanks! :)

i have a question what about our salvation from John 3:5 clearly saying Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. the we can go to Acts 2:38 Where it clearly proves it. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. then Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, i so think that not only will your saying be enough there must be something else other than believing truth obedience is what the lord is asking, as jeremiah 17: 9-10 9 The heart is deceitful above all things
   and beyond cure.
   Who can understand it?

“I the LORD search the heart
   and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”
may the lord bring peace to all of you my friends following him is tough but at the end whoever is with him will be victorious.

Josh:

Yes, you can pray to God in your mind. I do it all the time.

Also, you might want to try to find some Christian friends that can support you in your faith to start spending some time with. It can be really hard to walk with God if you are surrounded by people that drag you down 100% of the time.

Do you believe Godly sorrow is necessary to bring repentance (turning away from sin) that then leads to salvation? (2 Cor 7:10)
Can you show me the sinner pray in the Bible.
Why is so little taught about the need to have Godly sorrow and repentance to have salvation.
I am convicted that accepting Christ into my heart because I do not want to be punished and or go to hell is not the correct Biblical motivation for seeking salvation.

What say you?

Hello,

When praying, can I speak to God using my mind? Or do I have to literally "talk" with him. I feel uncomfortable when talking to somebody who is not in my physical presence. Every time I pray, I pray inside my mind, but I think it is in my heart. Also, everybody in my life who cares for me are also the people in my life who give me the temptation me to sin. This is because I am surrounded by a non-Chrsitian lifestyle (living with people who tell me that Jesus is not God). How can I spread the message without ripping my social life apart? I do not want to lose my non-Chrsitian friends because without them, I will not be able to go to any events in the community. Even if I did repent and turn my life around, nobody would be listing to me besides God himself. What do I do?

Yes, you can certainly be a witness for God on the Internet.

As far as your atheist friend, one of the best things you can do it to introduce her to some of the evidence for the Christian faith. A good place to start is a book called "Discovering God" by Dennis McCallum.

What a wonderful post and even better comments, it demonstrates that the body of Christ is hungry. However, I will say that much of the discussion has been much the revealing of human arrogance, a problematic position and or attitude that has plagued the body of Christ since the beginning. (2 Timothy 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH. I strongly emphasize this in most of my sermons or classes. For challenging the church doctrines, Jesus and Paul were both crucified, as were many more. And for the revelation of Jesus Christ Martin Luther excommunicated by the Catholic Church and announced a fugitive from the Roman government. For this cause have many been excommunicated or denied, but Jesus did say that he who will lose his life for His sake shall save it.

(Galatians 1:10-12) For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ. For I make known to you, brethren, as touching the gospel which was preached by me, that it is not after man. For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

(2 Timothy 3:16 & 17) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Some don’t read but single scripture not divided at all, some don’t read/study at all but hear scriptures or a form of scripture. I heard a young woman speaking on a television news information show this weekend who believes she quoted scripture. However if she was to take a look “God helps those who helps themselves,” is not written in the bible at all, it’s just an old Southern Baptist catch phrase.

Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition), Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or that is worshiped, [even to his actually] taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God. Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining him [from being revealed at this time]; it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own [appointed] time. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-6 (AMPL)

Apostasy means to fall away from the truth. Therefore, an apostate is someone who has once believed and then rejected the truth of God. Apostasy is a rebellion against God because it is a rebellion against truth. In the Old Testament God warned the Jewish people about their idolatry and their lack of trust in Him. In the New Testament the epistles warn us about not falling away from the truth. Apostasy is a very real and dangerous threat.

The verse at the top of the page tells us that there will be an apostasy that is associated with the appearance of the Antichrist. Most Christians are looking for the arrival of the Antichrist, but very few are looking for "the apostasy" that must come first. The arrival of the Antichrist cannot occur until sufficient apostasy has happened in the world. The Antichrist, who is the ultimate of liars, cannot abide in a world where the truth of God's word is taught. This is why the Bible says that the apostasy will come first and then the Antichrist will be revealed.

Therefore, we must or should, as Christians, ask this question, "Is there an apostasy occurring in the Christian church today?" Some would say no and others yes. But, as we look for the arrival of the Antichrist, should we not also be looking for the arrival of apostasy? And where else should we first look but in our own house for the Bible tells us that judgment will begin in the house of the Lord. (1 Peter 4:17); For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

The Warning Against Apostasy:

(Hebrews 6:1-8) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

The love of God is unconditional, but to obtain and maintain the benefits of God there are conditions, predicated by contractual agreement. Which must be accepted as to the first to the last portion of wedding vows…, until death do us part! “Keep My Commandments,” “go ye and sin no more”!

Romans 6, 7 and 8 would be worth reading.

Just a case of scrupulosity. Don't worry...applying modern psychology to it won't help, it will only make you feel worse. Don't feed into the system that wants to classify certain personalities as "disorders."

There is certainly help. Speaking from the Catholic Church, I can attest to all the great saints who suffered from scrupulosity. Stay with your convictions, but don't be too hard on yourself. First, seek spiritual direction. I am hardly an authority.

I was noticing that in the "New Testament" the apostles never asked anyone to pray this prayer that you are telling us to pray. They also never told anyone to "just have faith", rather they seemed to be directing thier converts to participate in a kind of bathing ritual.(symbolic of Jesus death and burial?). A perfect example is found in Acts 8:26-40. Whys are no American preachers teaching after such an example?

You said that the Bible is very clear that Christians will not be truly free of sinning. Where does it say that? Please help.

response after response and not one person mentions John 3:5. Stating a man must be born of the Water and Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God. Water is baptism.Spirit is the Holy Spirit(Holy Ghost). In the book of Acts it states the evidence of the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. Peter said in Acts 2:38, Repent and be baptized everyone of you, in the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. That said...why is everyone so afraid of the Ghost.

I just want to express my beliefs on salvation. When I was nine years old, I spent the night with a friend at her house. Her mother was sitting up reading the Bible. My friend and I started talking to her about the Bible and God's love for us. Later that night, I was on my knees with my friends mother at my side, praying to God and accepting Jesus into my heart. I believe I was saved that night. Throughout my life however, I have sinned and unfortunately continue to sin. I have had times of despair when I have been on my knees begging for God to take away these feelings of pain and sadness. I have had times of joy where I am rejoicing to God and thanking him for my many blessings. Then throughout the years (for I am now 47) there have been times, when I have not turned to God. It wasn't that I didn't believe in God or the fact that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sins, I have always believed that. These were just times, when I kind of "forgot about God." Now if I had died during these times in my life that I wasn't praying, wasn't walking in his word, would I have still gone to heaven? I like to think so, but I do not know for sure. I can say, that when I am talking to God daily, and trying to walk in his word, I feel "safer" that if I die, I will go to heaven. Even though I was saved all of those years ago, I believe you have to daily make a choice to choose God. I believe, that even though you can be "saved" you have to daily pick up the cross and choose to have a close relationship with him. That is the struggle I now try to work on daily to have a close, active, on fire kind of daily relationship with Jesus. It takes work just like anything worthwhile takes work. So no, the Bible may not say that I have to say a prayer to ask Jesus into my heart, but by doing so, and by trying to make him an active daily part of my life, I believe I am truly saved.

I have never coveted my neighbors man servant so I have not broke that one.

Michael-please direct all the people who simply want to quote bible verses to each other to this site. They can quote away to their hearts content. They have no place on an economic collapse type blog.

I have a question about this verse:

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” Hebrews 10:26-27

So this says if we do a sin after we learn that what we are doing is a sin then we won't be forgiven? But being the unholy sinners we all are everyone would sin after learning of certain sins. So are we forgiven much thanks.

And we cannot forget this one thing: People in general want to look at only the ten commandments, but there are more than ten. And if we broke one, we are guilty of breaking them all. Moses was a clear example of that when he came off the mountain and threw the tables of stone down, he broke them all symbolically speaking at one time, thus showing none of us could keep the law, but there is one law we can keep. Christ fulfilled the law of righteousness. Our faith in Him and what he did for us at the cross is what brings us to salvation. First, we must hear the word preached. Then it must convict our heart, we realize we're a sinner. then we come to an altar of repentance, and this can be on a railroad track, a cornfield, at church, or anywhere we bow our heart to God and repent. We can only do this when we are under conviction and the spirit says to come. Then when we do, Christ comes into our soul, washes away our sins and makes it as though we never sinned. So then when we do in the future after we've been saved, God sees the blood Christ applied to our soul, and he sees it being pure. We will continue to sin in the flesh till the day we die, but praise God, Satan doesnt' know where our soul is and it will never sin, because the seed in us, spoken of by John is hid away in Christ and cannot sin because it is born of God. When put this way, it's so simple a child can understand. The problem is this: Man injects their ideas into the equation and makes a mess of it. Then with all the people telling their theories etc complicates it more. Remember this: Any one wanting to be right with God, he will make a way. He put the jam on the bottom shelf for the kids.
